Eels confirm forward’s departure with immediate release.
He has made three appearances for the club.
The Parramatta Eels have confirmed forward Jirah Momoisea’s immediate release.
The prop has failed to break through since joining the Eels at the start of the 2023 season, making only three NRL appearances for the club last year.
He left the Newcastle Knights after playing eight NRL games in two seasons.
The 25-year-old was tied to the Eels until the end of the year, but his release will allow him to leave Parramatta, where he has spent the majority of his career playing reserve grade.
“The Parramatta Eels and Jirah Momoisea have agreed upon a release for the remainder of his contract effective immediately,” the club said in a statement.
“The Eels would like to thank Jirah for his contribution to the Eels and wish him and his family all the best for the future.”
The forward has experience in rugby union, but it’s unknown where he’ll go next. However, News Corp reports that the forward will join the Canterbury Bulldogs, who have recently sought reinforcements in their engine room.
According to reports, another Eels forward, Ky Rodwell, could leave the team in the coming weeks to join an English club.
There has been no confirmation of either player’s destination at this time.
