FABRIZIO ROMANO HAS BAD TRANSFER NEWS FOR TOTTENHAM, ASTON VILLA & WEST HAM UNITED

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur, Unai Emery’s Aston Villa and David Moyes’ West Ham United are set to lose out on the transfer of Harvey Barnes to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United after their rumoured interest this summer.

The Italian journalist has claimed on Twitter that Newcastle United have a ‘£39 million deal sealed’ for the 25-year-old and ‘personal terms are also agreed’.

Harvey Barnes was relegated with Leicester City last season, which then saw a host of clubs express interest in his talents, including Tottenham, West Ham United, following their Europa Conference League triumph, and Aston Villa, who made a return to Europe.

But it seems as though it’s those from St James’ Park, who have Champions League football to offer, are now going to win the race for his signature.

Some may question where the Englishman is going to play because, even if Allan Saint-Maximin makes his expected exit, there are still many players for Howe to pick from out wide.

Even back in January, they signed Anthony Gordon from Everton, who is of a similar ilk to Barnes and can also operate on the left-flank, but you can’t mess with squad depth, which the Magpies are now building, but the likes of Villa, Spurs and West Ham need.

“Newcastle are set to sign Harvey Barnes on a permanent deal from Leicester, here we go,” wrote the Italian.

Who needed Barnes more?

All three clubs might see it as bad news that Barnes isn’t joining them, but more so than others. Tottenham perhaps need to sort their defence more than anything, but if Harry Kane leaves, then more firepower is required and that’s where Barnes comes into the equation.

Aston Villa were looking at Barnes, but if they seal this deal for Moussa Diaby, then they wouldn’t worry much.

West Ham fans are probably the ones most annoyed because, if Arsenal were quicker in sealing the deal for Declan Rice, then they could have been quicker to the mark in bringing Barnes in.
