Leeds United transfer development as Newcastle United man holds talks with rivals

Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow is wanted by Bournemouth and Leeds United.

Bournemouth have held talks with Newcastle United over signing goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

The 32-year-old, who moved to St James’ Park from Nottingham Forest nine years ago, spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship side Hull City.

And despite featuring in both of the Magpies’ opening pre-season friendlies against Gateshead and Rangers as well as making the trip to the USA, Darlow is still expected to leave this summer.

Leeds United have shown an interest in Darlow but according to the Daily Telegraph, Bournemouth “have made initial moves” as new manager Andoni Iraola searches for a goalie to rival Neto for the number one spot.

Earlier this week, Hull boss Liam Rosenior was forced to admit defeat in signing Darlow permanently with Newcastle reportedly demanding £5million.

“I don’t think Karl is someone that will be joining us,” Rosenior told HullLive. “Karl is someone who I loved working with, he’s an outstanding goalkeeper but the price that Newcastle are speaking about is something we can’t do this summer.

“I’m disappointed, but that’s football. My job is to give this football club the best squad possible. Can we be successful without Karl Darlow? One hundred per cent, so we move on.
