‘Never mind £25m’: Manager thinks ‘unbelievable’ Wolves target should be valued even higher

Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson feels the asking price for Alex Scott should actually be higher having seen the way he’s played in pre-season so far.

Wolves fans are desperately hoping that somehow, Scott will be a Wanderers player by the end of this transfer window.

He is a player that has been on the club’s radar for some time now.

Wolves held talks with the Robins over the starlet back in January.

Scott is thought to like Wolves and be keen on a potential move to Molineux.

But at the moment, Wolves’ financial situation is really hindering them.

And if they were hoping that Bristol City were going to be doing them any favours over Scott, then they will definitely need to forget about it…

Bristol City firm on Alex Scott as Nigel Pearson says his asking price should actually be higher

Pearson has been speaking about Scott ahead of the new season.

The 19-year-old remains very highly coveted, and his manager was keen to reiterate the club’s stance.

He told BBC Radio Bristol: “As far as I am concerned, we have made our stance quite clear as a football club and that is for somebody to gain the opportunity to talk to him, we are talking about £25 million

“So, there have been reports of bids of £21 million and stuff like that in various news outlets. I have even read with interest some journalist saying maybe we are setting our price too high for him. But what they fail to understand is, we don’t want to sell him, that is why we are pricing him the way we are.

“Actually, having seen him since the start of pre-season, we should be asking £30 million for him, never mind £25 million.

“The bottom line is, we as a club have said he is going to cost £25 million as a starting point and if something happens where he goes for less than that, I won’t be very happy, I can tell you that now.”

Alex Scott signing for Wolves feels so far off right now

These comments from Pearson will do little to settle many agitated Wolves fans right now.

Scott is the one player many are desperate for the club to sign this summer

He is an amazing young talent who could become top-class. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola famously called him ‘unbelievable’, after watching him face his side in the FA Cup earlier this year.

But for the moment, Wolves face missing out on him due to their financial problems.

Seemingly, Wolves still need to sell some players if they are to have any chance at all of signing Scott.

By the time the club do that, Scott may already have signed for another club.
