Tyler Adams sends seven-word message to ‘little bro’ Archie Gray after Leeds United debut

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams has sent a message to youngster Archie Gray after his performance against Cardiff City, in a post shared on Instagram.

The Whites scored a late equaliser against the Bluebirds to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw at Elland Road during their opening game of the Championship campaign.

Gray made his competitive debut in midfield and played 89 minutes before being replaced by Sonny Perkins late on, and Adams, who was not in the matchday squad, showed his support for the 17-year-old via a story shared on his personal Instagram account after the match, writing that he was a “star in the making, congrats little bro.” (6 August).

Adams’ future at the club is yet to be clarified, with the 24-year-old subject to interest from Chelsea, who are reportedly preparing to trigger his £20million release clause (Daily Mail, 6 August).

Supportive

Even though his future at the club remains unclear, as long as Adams is a Leeds player it is clear that the United States international will show support for his teammates on the field.

This demonstrates his incredible professionalism as a lot of players who are linked with moves away from their club might choose to stay quiet until the transfer window shuts.

Not Adams though, and his support for one of the club’s most talented prospects suggests he is invested in what is going on at Elland Road.

Some fans might fear that this post represents that Gray could be the replacement in the team for Adams with the message perhaps acting as a passing of the torch.

Although if that is to be the case, fans might have nothing to worry about, as Gray caught the eye with an impressive performance against Cardiff and looked the part during his debut for the club.

His display clearly impressed Adams, and supporters will hope the midfielder sticks around to play alongside the academy star and offer him some guidance.
