Everton Are Showing Interest In This Leicester City Striker: What Will He Add To Dyche’s Team?

In a recent segment on Patreon, journalist Alan Nixon mentioned that Everton are showing interest in Leicester City striker Patson Daka this summer. It has been claimed that the Toffees are hoping to bring the Zambian talent during this summer transfer window.

Daka’s Inconsistent Campaign In Premier League Football

Daka had a difficult campaign at the King Power Stadium as he struggled to find consistency for Leicester in the final third. However, he put in a handful of impressive displays but it was not enough for the Foxes to avoid the drop from the Premier League.

The 24-year-old found the back of the net four times and earned four assists in 36 appearances for the East Midlands club last season across all fronts. The Zambian sensation managed to catch the eye by averaging 1.0 shots and 0.6 key passes per game in the Premier League. However, he has to find a way to improve his ball distribution after making 68% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the East Midlands club will run out in the summer of 2026. However, Leicester’s relegation could open the door for Everton to land him this month.

What Will Daka Add To Everton Boss Sean Dyche’s Team?

Daka can engineer a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. The Zambian centre-forward can create the odd chance for his teammates when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the pitch.

Daka is primarily a striker but can also operate as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play up top.

The Zambia international will undeniably add more pace and goals to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s attacking department. He is good enough to rival Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a regular starting place at Goodison Park next season.

At 24, Daka has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Toffees to pursue during this summer transfer period. He already knows the Premier League well by now and could help the Merseyside outfit steer clear of the relegation zone in the upcoming 2023-24 Premier League season.
