JUST IN : Aston villa could now complete signing of ‘quality’ 25-year-old within 24 hours

NOTTINGHAM FOREST LINKED WITH £120,000-A-WEEK ASTON VILLA DEFENDER

Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest have been linked with Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne.

According to The Athletic, Nottingham Forest have an interest in Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne, but his wages are a problem.

Forest are looking for a new left-back in the summer transfer window.

Nuno Tavares of Arsenal is a player the Reds are keen on, according to The Daily Mail.

The Athletic has reported that Forest have also looked at Digne.

However, the former Everton star’s weekly salary of £120,000 is “excessive” for the Reds, according to the report.

The report has claimed that Villa tried to include Digne in a deal to sign 22-year-old Wales international forward Brennan Johnson from Forest.

Tottenham Hotspur are now reportedly the favourites to secure the services of Johnson in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Lucas Digne a better option than Nuno Tavares for Nottingham Forest

We believe that Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne would be a better signing for Nottingham Forest than Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares.

While Tavares is a young and promising player, the 23-year-old has failed to make a huge impact in the Premier League with Arsenal.

He would be a risk for Forest, even on a loan deal.

After all, manager Steve Cooper needs players who would contribute positively to the team and make sure that they do not get relegated to the Championship.

Digne, a former Barcelona left-back, was a success at Everton and has done well at Villa so far.

And he is 30 and is at the top of his game.

Digne would be able to make an immediate impact at the City Ground.

If Forest want a quality left-back, then they should pay the £120,000-a-week in wages for Digne and try to get a deal done with Villa.
