late night deal sealed : agreement to sign a key player before window close on deadline

“From the club”: Leeds United seal late night agreement to sign 27-y/o midfielder – Club sponsor

Leeds United have reportedly agreed a fee and deal to sign Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara this week, with the transfer now up to the player.

The Whites are going to be very busy in the final two days of the transfer window, with Daniel Farke aiming to add in more than one position before tomorrow’s deadline.

Links to midfielders haven’t been in short supply throughout August, and the club may be closing in on a long-term target.

Glen Kamara to Leeds?

Rangers podcast Four Lads Had A Dream, a commercial sponsor for the Ibrox club, reported last night that deal has been agreed with Leeds to see the club sign midfielder Glen Kamara.

A fee of £5million is said to be the price Leeds are paying, with add-ons on top of that based on promotion, while a sell-on is also included.

What remains for Leeds to sign him?

The only thing seemingly standing in the way for Leeds is to agree personal terms with Kamara himself, which seems to be a minor obstacle, given the player’s lack of involvement this season.

Rangers travelled to PSV for the second leg of their Champions League qualifying play-off, where they were battered 5-1, and Kamara was not part of the travelling squad.

Kamara has seemed like the most straightforward of deals we could have done in midfield this summer, and yet, talks have seemingly taken an absolute age.

I do have concerns about his fitness at the moment, given he’s not kicked a ball throughout pre-season or in August.

He has the international break to get up to speed for us, but this might be a lot of money to spend on someone who will take a month to get up to 100%.
