Norwegian player on Tyneside as Newcastle completes a deal on the last day of the transfer window

According to rumours from Friday morning, Norwegian star Travis Hernes is on the verge of joining Newcastle United.

According to Alex Crook of talkSPORT and the Shropshire Star, we have reached an agreement to acquire the highly regarded Shrewsbury midfielder.

The 17-year-old, who is believed to reside in Tyneside, is anticipated to join our programme after making an impact in the EFL. He started their Carabao Cup loss to Leeds earlier this week and last month became the League One’s youngest player to appear.

Although no fee has been specified as of yet, it is believed to be a good deal for Shrewsbury that includes a 20% sell-on clause.

It’s encouraging to see the team reinvesting in young players after a flurry of U16 acquisitions and the likes of Cathal Heffernan of AC Milan joining our U21s. Dan Ashworth is determined to expand our academy this summer.
