SAD NEWS:As Eleven Bristol Rovers players Want To depart To

FLW gathers the Gas employees whose contracts are up in June.

Bristol Rovers are now playing in their second consecutive season in the third division of English football after successfully surviving in League One the previous year.

Even though a deadline-day deal to bring Jonson Clarke-Harris back to the club fell through, the partial ownership of The Gas, led by Kuwaiti investor Hassain AlSaeed, has given the team new hope.

Rovers are currently in 17th place in the table after six league games, having only won one, drawn three, and lost twice.

Contract negotiations will be necessary throughout the season because many players will have deals that expire at the end of the 2023–24 season.

Look at the 11 players that will be leaving Memorial Stadium as of right now when their contracts end in June 2024.

Former Scotland youth international Gordon signed last summer from Brentford and has been a mainstay for Barton.

The 22-year-old should do more when it comes to getting full-back assists, but he is adequate at League One level and has room to grow.

Hoole, an academy graduate, will probably surpass 100 appearances for Rovers later in the campaign.

Hoole, a versatile 21-year-old defender, appears to be the club’s right-back choice if he is healthy and available, thus it’s critical that the organisation get a new contract for him.

The seasoned striker signed from Lincoln last summer and scored nine goals in league play, demonstrating his value as a player.

However, with Jevani Brown’s signing, it seems likely that the 31-year-old will spend the majority of this season as a backup.

Rossiter accompanied Barton from Fleetwood to Bristol Rovers in 2022, but due to a knee injury, he hasn’t been seen since December of the previous year.

The ex-Liverpool midfielder missed the entire preseason and it’s unclear when he’ll play again; his protracted absence might prevent him from getting a contract extension.

Finley, another player who followed Barton to the blue and white half of Bristol, is the current captain of Rovers and is in his third season with the organisation.

The 31-year-old, who played 38 times in League One last season, will likely be in line for at least another year at the club if he continues to be a dependable presence in the engine room.

Despite not always being a starter under Barton, Gibbons came from Port Vale in 2022 and still made 34 appearances across all competitions.

When he returns from his foot injury, he will compete with Luca Hoole for a spot at right-back, but if he is forced to take second place, there is a good probability that he won’t receive a contract extension.

In October 2022, Sinclair returned to Bristol Rovers about 18 years after making his professional debut for the team as a 15-year-old. His contract was swiftly extended as a result of his performances.

Although the winger didn’t play every game for Barton last season, his experience is crucial. He scored five goals in League One.

After moving to Brentford on loan, Belshaw most likely will have to give way to Matthew Cox this season.

Belshaw only managed eight clean sheets in 38 league games last year, and it’s unlikely that he’ll play much in the 2023–24 season.

Friend dropped into League One with the Gas over the summer after playing hardly at all for Birmingham City the previous season in order to give the defence some additional experience.

The 35-year-old has already made two starts for the league this year, and although he may not be able to play many 90-minute games as his career winds down, his experience will be valuable.

Striker, 19, is currently back on loan at Truro City in the National League South while developing his skills in non-league.

There is a chance that he could land a new deal at Memorial Stadium if he performs well in the sixth tier.

For Grant, who hasn’t had the best luck with injuries lately, Rovers have an optional year extension.

The versatile 24-year-old was sidelined for the majority of the previous season due to a knee problem, but he comes returning for the 2023–24 campaign with much to prove and perhaps in the hopes that he will be around for the next year.
