Scotland international Kenny McLean and Norwich City reach an extension of their contract
Scotland midfielder Kenny McLean recently agreed to a new contract with Norwich City that may keep him with the club through 2027.

The 31-year-old was the target of transfer offers from Leeds this summer despite being bound to his current club until 2025 and having an additional year’s option.

His new contract includes a 12-month extension option and extends through the 2025–26 season.

Since moving from Aberdeen, McLean has made 182 appearances for the Canaries, including six this year.

Just nine months after signing his previous contract, he has been leading the club while Grant Hanley has been sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained in April.

“I have now spent five years here, and this is my sixth. I’m grateful that the club wants to do it too, and I’m really glad to be extending it considerably farther,” McLean said on the club website.

“I’ve achieved success at this club by earning a couple of promotions, and I’m desperate for more. We share the same aim and goal, which is why I want to be here.

Stuart Webber, the sporting director, continued, “Kenny was the subject of strong interest from other clubs over the most recent transfer window but stayed professional throughout, leading the team in Grant’s absence.”

Jonathan Rowe of Norwich has been named the EFL’s Young Player of the Month for August.

He After making his debut against Hull on the first day of the season, he scored in each of the four league games that followed.

Rowe is the first Norwich player to win a monthly award since Max Aarons in November 2020. Aarons is currently playing for Bournemouth.
