Last but not least, good news for Wolves and the player: a loan might begin before the Champions League season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Gonçalo Guedes has now healed from his last knee operation, according to reports from Portugal.

The winger, who was loaned back to Benfica in the summer, is reportedly available to participate in the Eagles’ match against RB Salzburg on Wednesday.

Given that this is Lisbon’s first appearance in the Champions League this year, it would appear that they are confident Guedes can already play at his peak level despite the prolonged rehabilitation period.

According to Radio Renascença, the athlete missed the final four months of last season due to a knee injury.
It was even suggested that he would wind up in Spain after a protracted drama where Benfica and Wolves refused to declare the loan renewal, but the two teams ultimately reached an agreement.

Due to a series of injuries, Guedes, who had previously been loaned to the Portuguese team in January, was unable to make much of an impact in Lisbon.

It can only be advantageous for Wolves to have stronger justifications for a sale the following year if he is healthy at the start of the season.
