‘Target’ for Leeds United transfer Wilfried Gnonto is praised for his ‘different’ claim
The most recent information from Elland Road as Daniel Farke and Leeds United prepare to face Hull City.

The Leeds United striker Wilfried Gnonto has praised the “incredible” calibre of football while describing life in England as “very different.” The Italian international made 28 appearances across all competitions in his first season at Elland Road, scoring four goals and dishing out four assists. He joined the Whites from FC Zurich in Switzerland for an unknown amount just over a year ago.

Gnonto was eager to leave the team this summer after they were demoted from the Premier League, but after starting Leeds’ last three Championship games, manager Daniel Farke appears to be giving him another chance.

The 19-year-old said to SportMediaSet about life in England: “Life here is definitely different, but with the cuisine, I was quite lucky because I arrived with my parents. The weather is usually the hardest thing to predict. This area is a little depressing. On the other hand, the quality of football is a plus. It’s amazing.

“I’ve gone to a lot of stadiums, and each one has a great vibe. However, I believe that Serie A is more well-liked abroad than we realise. There is a lot of appreciation for Italy and the league as a whole because this tournament made history.

Whites target is praised by a former Sheffield Wednesday player

After Joseph Paintsil turned down interest from Leeds United and Southampton to stay at Genk, former Belgian international Marc Degryse gave his opinion on the player.

The Ghanaian international mentioned offers from both Championship clubs for the upcoming summer, and he expressed a desire to play in the Premier League at some time in the future. Paintstil has stayed with Genk despite interest from England, and in 10 games in all competitions so far this season, he has already scored one goal and contributed three assists.

Speaking after Paintsil’s latest appearance in a 2-0 win at Royal Union Saint Gilloise, former Sheffield Wednesday forward Degryse believes the Whites target has proved more effective than one of his former team-mates that did make a move to England this summer. The former Belgium international told Het Laatste Nieuws: “It is more important for Genk’s game that Paintsil stayed rather than (Burnley new signing, Mike) Tresor. The latter was very good in terms of kicking technique – his crosses and build-up play was sublime – but Paintsil is more threatening.”
