As he attempts to lead Leeds United back into the Premier League at the first try, Daniel Farke has revealed the secret to his promotion success.
During his four-year tenure as Norwich City manager, the Canaries won two Championship crowns. The former manager will now look to add a third promotion to his list of accomplishments after his Whites team started to show indications of gaining momentum in recent weeks.
Farke’s team has adjusted well to life on the road after collecting six points from challenging journeys to in-form Ipswich Town and Millwall, while dropping points with disappointing home draws against West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday.
Farke is eager to ignore the league standings as he stressed his determination to restore the club’s supporters’ pride in their team, despite his side moving to within two points of the play-off positions following Sunday’s victory at The Den.
The Whites manager told the YEP during his pre-game news conference before Wednesday’s trip to Hull City: “The secret at Norwich was that we were never consumed with the standings. We focus on each game while letting the table take care of itself.
“The key to (my success at Norwich) was that we were only focused on the next game,” I said. That will be our goal, and I shall be the group leader here in Leeds.
“The fans are everything to this team. I’ll like it even more if they approve of what we’re doing. For this team, I want to be the best coach I can be. I make an effort to give this club my best. Once I take on a project, I have to give it my all. Otherwise, I wouldn’t accept an assignment. I am employed by a club with unimaginable size and support. I want to restore the pride of our supporters. Support is required for our players.
