Norwich City striker is injured and will be going for surgery and may not return

Norwich manager Wagner predicts Sargent’s return from injury in January

Josh Sargent is anticipated to make a full recovery from his ankle injury by the end of January, according to Norwich City head coach David Wagner.

Sargent needed surgery after getting hurt during Norwich’s game against Huddersfield last month. The striker for the American men’s national team had a great start with the Championship squad, scoring three goals in four league games to start the new season.

In a press conference, Wagner expressed optimism that the 23-year-old would make a comeback before the new year.

“We saw Josh on Wednesday, the first time in the building after his surgery,” Wagner remarked. “Good looking. Obviously, after speaking with him, I can report that he is no longer in need of painkillers, which is fantastic news. The next phase is for him to come out of stitches the next week, and the deadline we set for his return is still Christmas or early January.

“So far, everything has gone smoothly. But right now, it’s all about healing, having a proper rehab, and then properly increasing his fitness,”

Sargent’s most recent USMNT appearance came during the World Cup in Qatar, where he participated in all three of the group stage games. In 23 appearances, the Missouri native has scored five goals for the USMNT overall.
