After being fired by the EFL, a 45-year-old who left Leeds United in 2022 gets a job in Australia

Mark Jackson has been selected as the next manager of the Central Coast Mariners, it has been announced. Jackson formerly managed MK Dons and Leeds United.
Jackson, 45, took a position as a youth coach at Leeds United in 2015 after having similar positions with Farsley AFC and Bradford City. He was with the Whites for just over seven years, managing the U18s and U21s before taking on the post of assistant manager under Jesse Marsch.

Jackson was lured away from Elland Road by MK Dons, who offered him his first senior management position, in December of last year.

However, his time at Stadium MK did not go as the Dons and he had intended. Jackson was let go by MK Dons at the end of the season after the team was demoted to League Two.

A League team It has been confirmed that Central Coast Mariners have named the former Leeds United coach as their new manager. He relocates to Australia to succeed Nick Montgomery, who left for Hibernian to succeed Lee Johnson as the new manager of Fleetwood Town.

With so much coaching experience under his belt from his stint at Leeds United, there were heightened expectations for Jackson’s debut in senior management. He had a transfer window and half of the season to turn around the MK Dons’ fortunes, but eventually failed to do so.

Though it was a challenging first position, Jackson will be eager to put the challenging MK period behind him in a new position in Australia.

Since the Central Coast Mariners won the A-League title last season under the leadership of Montgomery, a former player for Sheffield United, Jackson will have high standards to meet.
