The 51-year-old’s team ended 13th last season despite winning just seven of its 21 games under his direction in all competitions. He will be hoping that a team that presently has a slightly more seasoned vibe about it is capable of promotion at the second attempt.

Given that the team has players like Ben Gibson, Ashley Barnes, Grant Hanley, Kenny McLean, and Shane Duffy in its spine, their age should enable them deal with the rigours and challenging times of a Championship season.

There are six ex-Norwich City players whose current team could surprise you.

Van Wolfswinkel’s agreement to join Norwich City for the 2013–14 campaign was announced on March 22, 2013. He later signed a four-year contract with the Canaries and made his league debut for Norwich against Everton on August 17 in a 2-2 home draw.Van Wolfswinkel made a total of 25 games in the Premier League but failed to score for the remainder of the campaign, and Norwich were demoted to the Championship. Leonard Lita
After his loan stint with the Canaries in 2008–2009, Lita’s career has brought him to an astounding 16 different clubs, where he has played in Greece and Thailand as well as prominently for clubs like Reading and Middlesbrough. In 16 games for the club while on loan to Norfolk, he scored seven goals.

However, Lita is still playing football at the age of 38, this time with Nuneaton Borough after stints in non-league with Nuneaton Borough, Hednesford Town, and Ilkeston Town. The former England U-21 international, who had recently enjoyed success with Hednesford in the Southern League Premier Division Central, has re-signed with the team.

Johnson, Bradley

Johnson has returned to Derby County as the U21 team’s player-coach. From 2015 to 2019, Johnson was a member of the Rams, appearing in 140 games for the team. The 36-year-old is back with a plethora of experience, having played for teams like Cambridge United, Northampton Town, Leeds United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Norwich, Derby and Blackburn Rovers during his career.

Johnson played 154 times for Norwich over the course of just over four seasons, the most of which were spent in the Premier League. He also scored 21 goals during that time. Hooper, Gary

Early in his career, Hooper regularly caused opponents in the Championship and League One to lose patience, so it was undoubtedly a relief when he left the English leagues to join Scottish powerhouses Celtic. His record in Norwich reads as 20 goals in 70 games, but his career has been probably more interesting after his departure. He would later travel back to England with the Canaries.

Hooper first played for Sheffield Wednesday before moving to Australia to play for Wellington Phoenix. He then spent a year playing for Kerala Blasters in India after that.He briefly returned to Europe with the Cypriot team Omonia Nicosia, but he is currently 35 years old and still playing for Gulf United in Dubai.

Since then, the 36-year-old’s career has brought him to teams like Rangers, Dundee, Western Sydney Wanderers in Australia, and Dunfermline Athletic. Although many layers below his previous Scottish teams, Dorrans has not yet retired and currently competes for Johnstone Burgh alongside former Norwich striker Kyle Lafferty in the West of Scotland League First Division.
