A player was discovered dead after receiving “death threats” from a Rangers fan

Before the Celtic match, Moussa Dembele claims Rangers supporters gave him “death threats”.
The French striker has spoken out about the alleged death threats he got from Rangers supporters while playing for Celtic.

Before Old Firm matches, according to former Celtic star Moussa Dembele, he received death threats from Rangers supporters.

The former Hoops striker had a productive time in Glasgow under Brendan Rodgers, netting a hat-trick on his debut in the storied derby against their fierce rivals. Before making a significant transfer to Lyon in his native country, Dembele would go on to score at Ibrox and win back-to-back Trebles during a famous period at Celtic. Dembele now plays for former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq and acknowledges that his split from the Rhone club was not entirely amicable.

The 27-year-old has finally spoken out about the alleged death threats he claimed to have received while playing for the Hoops in a tell-all interview following the completion of his move to Saudi Arabia. “In football as in life, you are better when you feel appreciated and supported,” he told Foot Mercato. When it comes from the enemy, hostility does not frighten me.

“I’d even say it makes me feel stimulated. Prior to the Glasgow derbies, I received death threats from Rangers supporters, but I continued to perform my job.

“But it’s a different matter when the animosity comes from your own followers and turns into hatred. My final year in Lyon was challenging. Despite the roadblocks management had thrown in my way, I had a good start. I acknowledge that I could have and should have done better. However, it wasn’t the case. Regarding my services, I am clear-headed and impartial.
