The Magpies’ grand final hero almost lost it after the game.

a thrilling four-point triumph over Brisbane by scoring twice.
dubbed his “greatest moment” in his life winning the championship.

He told the Herald Sun, “Unfortunately, she has terminal cancer, so this will be the last game for her.”

“Having her here means the world to me.”

“My grandfather, who sadly passed away, had a huge impact on my career. It is therefore really unique to be able to see [my grandmother] in the rooms.

The victory, in his opinion, was also “the best moment of my life.”

“Everyone on the team and I have worked really hard to get here. We’ve all had setbacks.

For De Goey, who had difficulty off the pitch the previous two years but later turned his career around, the triumph will be extra satisfying.

After a nightclub altercation that landed him in a New York jail in October 2021, he later apologised for his actions after being captured on a contentious video shot in a Bali club in June of last year.

Eddie McGuire, a former president of the Magpies, claimed he was on “parole” at the club as a result of the latter event.

Nevertheless, he turned down a substantial offer from St. Kilda and signed a five-year deal with Collingwood in September of last year.

At the time, he commented, “Obviously, it’s a stressful time, but deep down, I always wanted to stay at the Pies.”

They recently established this family atmosphere, and I, along with many of the other lads, are really prospering in it.

De Goey marked and converted a goal after the quarter-time siren on Saturday, which was one of the most significant moments in Collingwood’s victory.

Despite being outside of the 50-foot arc, his shot never appeared to miss, and the Pies were in a 10-point lead at the half after he made it.

With just over five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and his team behind by two, De Goey scored his second major after racing onto a spectacular Nick Daicos handball.

In another game-changing move, he fired the ball from almost exactly on the 50-meter line and struck the target once more. His outstanding performance, which also included 18 disposals and four tackles, was capped off by this moment.
