what a big shame for Ipswich Town

“A big shame,” says the injured Ipswich Town loanee as the team waits for the scan findings.

Liam Manning, the manager of Oxford United, claimed that after the Ipswich Town loanee injured his hamstring in practise, Kyle Edwards appears to be out for a “little while.”
Ipswich Town gave winger Edwards an opportunity to play regularly away from Portman Road by sending him out on loan in the summer. He joined Oxford United for the entire season and is off to a strong start at the Kassam Stadium.

Against Port Vale, he came off the bench for the first time. Edwards managed two goals and an assist in three games across all competitions after that performance.

However, the 25-year-old Dudley native missed the 3-1 victory over Stevenage on Saturday, raising some concerns among supporters. Now that the game is over, Manning has revealed the Ipswich Town loanee will be out for a while.

As reported by the Witney Gazette, Manning said that Edwards is expected to be sidelined for a “little while” while Oxford is still awaiting scan results. He described the harm as “a great shame,” saying:

“To be honest, it will take some time before we get the results.

He felt it near the conclusion of training on Thursday, which is unfortunate because he got started right away and is someone we really like.

“We’re awaiting the results and will assess our situation to determine the precise situation at hand.”

I hope Edwards has dealt with injury issues throughout his career. His attempts to break into the Ipswich Town lineup were hindered by stints on the sidelines, and following a promising start with Oxford United, it appears he may now also miss some action.

The test results are expected to hopefully assuage the initial concerns Manning has mentioned. Time will only be able to determine how long the winger will be watching from the sidelines.

It is hoped that his loan with the League One team would enable him to advance beyond Ipswich Town. Although Edwards had some promising moments when playing for East Anglia, it seemed likely after his promotion to the Championship that he wouldn’t see much action for Kieran McKenna’s team.
