After undergoing summer surgery, a Wolves player is scheduled to make his season debut – After a four-month absence, he is back on the pitch.
Gonçalo Guedes, on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, is ready to return to action.
The winger hasn’t played since May 21st, when he suffered a knee injury that required surgery, but he should be back on the pitch this week, according to Record.
Guedes had already been exercising with Benfica’s team, but as manager Roger Schmidt stated, there’s a considerable difference between practising and playing a game.
The Eagles appear to have saved him until the best possible time, when Benfica face Porto in the Estádio da Luz on Friday.
That’s fantastic news for the Wolves, who have obviously been keeping a close eye on the issue.
Guedes had already been loaned to Benfica by Molineux in January of this year. Because he was injured and required surgery, the Eagles requested that his suspension be prolonged in the summer.
Wolves were stuck since, with the player recovering from surgery, few teams would make an offer for him, so they loaned him back to the Eagles for another year.
Now it’s up to Guedes to show himself at Benfica and possibly persuade them to offer him a permanent deal at the conclusion of the season.
