Injury update: The 33-year-old experienced hamstring injury and will undergo surgery

Following West Ham United’s victory over Backa Topola, David Moyes provides an injury update for Aaron Cresswell.

Aaron Cresswell sustained an injury during West Ham’s victory over Backa Topola on Thursday, September 21. David Moyes has provided an update on the situation.

The 33-year-old experienced hamstring discomfort during practise, but the coaching team believed there was no need to make any preparations for the Europa League match, according to the Hammers manager, who spoke to TNT Sports after the match.

The English left-back was replaced at halftime by Emerson, but he continued that the injury flared up again during the 3-1 triumph over the Serbian team.

“He felt his hamstring,” remarked Moyes. He had experienced it a little in training, but we didn’t think it was significant enough to warrant taking action.

However, it was certainly turned on during the game. We’ll let the medical staff examine it and assess how serious it is.

After Moyes acknowledged that he had felt something in his hamstring in practise, it appears that Cresswell wasn’t feeling well going into the game.

The defender must have been eager to get onto the pitch of play because it’s possible that he insisted everything was alright, whether it was or not.

It was his first team appearance for the Irons this season, despite the fact that he had been on the bench, after trying to force a transfer away from the club over the summer.

Before being replaced, he was still somewhat capable of moving around and running, but hamstring injuries aren’t something you can take chances with and he might miss a few games.

Emerson has established himself as the first-choice left-back and will aim to keep excelling in that role over the upcoming weeks, so it is unlikely to make a significant impact.
