The release of a significant player has been confirmed.

Major club confirms further stadium redevelopment

Wakefield Trinity are in the early stages of a new era for the club which promises stability and perhaps success for the first time in decades and it is all thanks to the club’s recent takeover.

Michael Carter’s and John Minards’ time in charge of the club has come to an end with Matthew Ellis taking over and already making a statement signing in the shape of Huddersfield Giants winger Jermaine McGillvary as well as retaining some key players like Liam Hood.

On the back of the first few big days of his time in charge, he made a statement on the club’s website: “Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I just wanted to update you all after my thoroughly enjoyable first week at the club. It’s been very busy meeting the staff and the players. I have met and spoken to most of them but there are still a few to get around to in the coming week. The reaction from the players has been very positive.

“The lads who are being retained are all determined to get the club back into the Super League and make the coming season a special one for everyone connected with the club. The new signings share our ambition and are looking forward to joining us on our journey.

“The off-field staff have also all been very positive and even though there are off-field areas the club must improve on I feel we have a solid foundation to build on. We are looking forward to the coming week with further signings and retentions to be announced as and when we get them over the line.”

He also revealed that their new kit would soon be on the way: “We are also excited about the new kit launch and season tickets will be launched in the next 7 to 10 days. Throughout this week I will be making further statements which will include IMG and the 5 main areas where clubs will be graded going forward.”#

But, more importantly, he confirmed future facility improvements: “Further updates on the new east stand, as well as improvements to supporters’ and players’ facilities, will be outlined.” Finally, we hope to host some exciting shareholder and supporter events in the new stand, which Morgan Sindall expects to be completed by the end of November.”

Wakefield has already received an entirely new stand and will hence obtain a higher IMG score in 2024.
