Patriots, Broncos, and Renfrow Trade Rumours

The Patriots got numerous trade offers during today’s trade deadline, but two of their key players apparently drew no interest. Teams called New England to assess pass rusher Josh Uche, safety Kyle Dugger, and lineman Michael Onwenu, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, but quarterback Mac Jones and veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott had no nibbles.Uche, Dugger, and Onwenu are all in contract years and have a good possibility of being dealt. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Uche was the most likely candidate. Uche exploded onto the limelight in 2022 after a number of quiet years to start his career, partnering with Matt Judon for half of the team’s 54 sacks last year. According to Mike Dugar of The Athletic, the Seahawks were interested in Uche, “with talks going pretty deep,” but ultimately signed Leonard Williams from New York instead. With Williams meeting Seattle’s defensive line need, Uche will remain in New England.

Jones and Elliott will, too. It’s unclear how serious the Patriots were in finding trade partners for the two offensive contributors, if at all. Jones will have a fifth-round option decision before next season, and Elliott will be a free agent at the end of the season. Here are a few more AFC rumours, starting with the West:

Up at Mile High, the Broncos elected not to transfer any of their possible trade assets due to a lack of genuine interest. While the team apparently received offers on players like as receivers Jerry Jeudy and Courtney Sutton, they did not evaluate the offers.

may be willing to go on a rebuild after defeating a sick Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs may have persuaded them differently.
To little surprise, the Raiders were unable to find a buyer for wide receiver Hunter Renfrow while remaining in the West. Renfrow received a large contract extension after his Pro Bowl season, and his role has been substantially reduced ever since. Renfrow has played more than half of the Raiders’ offensive snaps in only three games this season. According to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, the remaining guaranteed money in Renfrow’s contract prohibited any teams from truly pursuing the veteran receiver. With Renfrow sticking put may be willing to go on a rebuild after defeating a sick Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs may have persuaded them differently
