Decision confirmed

The NFL has confirmed the Broncos’ perplexing scheduling decisions against the Bills and Vikings.
The Denver Broncos will not be flexed out of two upcoming primetime games against the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings, according to the NFL.

Great power comes with great responsibility. The NFL scheduling decision-makers wield enormous power, yet for some reason refuse to use it. As a result, fans of the Denver Broncos should get used to watching them.

The Broncos, who were expected to be a contender in Sean Payton’s first season as head coach, were chosen to meet the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football in Week 10. The Broncos were scheduled to play the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football in Week 11.

The league has the option to flex out of certain matchups, but have decided to stay pat on those, per the Broncos’ Aric DiLalla.

Denver is currently 3-5, finishing last in the AFC West. Its -54 point differential is second worst in the AFC.

The Week 10 decision is more logical. With Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, and Von Miller, the Bills were considered potential Super Bowl candidates entering this season.

Despite their mediocre record (5-3), they’ve shown enough quality and big-game experience to make for interesting viewing.

However, the NFL’s refusal to flex out of the Vikings-Broncos game is unusual. The Vikings appeared to be a superior option before the season began, coming off a season in which they won 13 games.

But the team is down its two biggest stars at the moment. One of them certainly will not be back in two weeks.

Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles in Minnesota’s Week 8 victory against the Green Bay Packers. As a result, he is out for the season.

The Vikings have also been without outstanding receiver Justin Jefferson due to a hamstring ailment since Week 6. Jefferson’s return timetable was recently questioned by head coach Kevin O’Connell.

Maybe the NFL believes the Broncos can turn their season around. After all, a 24-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs wasn’t a bad way to get things going.
