Good news: The five years deal have just been confirmed

Martavis Bryant, who was just reinstated, has signed with a new team after being out of the NFL for five years.

The NFL finally reinstated wide receiver Martavis Bryant over the weekend, and he didn’t have to wait long to restart his career.

According to various reports, including The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Cowboys beat writer Michael Gehlken, Bryant will join the Dallas Cowboys practise squad after working out with the team this week.

Bryant last appeared in an NFL game as a member of the Oakland Raiders in 2018. After violating the league’s drug testing rules, he was suspended indefinitely. He was also suspended for the whole 2016 season.

Bryant appeared to be a rising NFL star with the Pittsburgh Steelers when he wasn’t punished. Due to his uncommon combination of size and sheer speed, he was an exciting talent and one of the best big-play receivers in the game.

He has 145 catches for 2,183 yards and 17 touchdowns in parts of four seasons.

Despite how good Bryant’s career appeared in the beginning, Cowboys supporters should have some realistic expectations here.

He will turn 32 later this season, and it has been five years since he last played in the NFL. That is a long time away, and it will be difficult for him to return to the field and make an impact, especially now that he is in his 30s. Physically, not having the physical wear and tear that comes from playing in the NFL on a consistent basis may help a little, but there will still be a significant transition time here.

This season, the Cowboys have one of the best offences in the NFL, averaging more than 27 points per game, but they could use some help at wide out. CeeDee Lamb is enjoying a tremendous year, while Michael Gallup, Brandin Cooks, and Jalen Tolbert are not contributing much.

If Bryant can work his way back into the active roster and make an impact, he will be a huge asset to the Cowboys offence.
