He is now ours : Texas now signed a Star player at free agent

In MLB free agency, the Texas Rangers are likely to prioritise a 5-time All-Star pitcher.

The Texas Rangers are anticipated to chase the finest closer in MLB free agency in order to improve their chances of repeating in 2024.

It’s just been a week since the Texas Rangers won their first World Series, defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks in five games. However, in professional sports, there is no rest for the weary, as the new defending champions must now shift gears and begin planning for 2024.

The Rangers have shown in the past that they are prepared to be daring in the free-agent market each winter. And, after numerous offseason deals proved crucial in their 2023 championship run, there is little reason to anticipate Texas to tighten their financial strings in the future months.

In recent weeks, the team has been connected to a possible pursuit of two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani. The ties make sense given that the Rangers are always prepared to spend big on free agents, and being a part of a winning culture is said to be high on the Japanese star’s wish list.

MLB execs expect Texas Rangers to prioritize Josh Hader in free agency

However, it appears that many in MLB feel the Rangers will prioritise a different player in free agency. On Sunday, USA Today MLB insider Bob Nightengale wrote on the Rangers’ summer strategy and revealed which stars executives absolutely expect to be in a Texas uniform in 2024.

“The Rangers’ bullpen concerns could also suddenly disappear with the signing of free-agent closer josh harder Nightengale said in his article. “It’s hard to find a single executive who isn’t predicting that Hader will ultimately be a Ranger.”

Hader has ascended to become, perhaps, the best closer in the game after being named to the All-Star team in five of his nine seasons in the league. He has 165 saves in his career with the Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres, and has four seasons with 30 or more, including 33 in 2023.
