Good news: The free agent deal have just been confirmed

Panthers elevate youth, confirm NRL squad for 2024
The club still has two available Top 30 places.

The Penrith Panthers have confirmed their NRL squad for next season, with rookie Harrison Hassett being promoted to the Top 30.

Hassett, one of the top back-rowers rising through the ranks, has been compared to international standout Liam Martin for his explosiveness on the edge of the field.

Despite interest from The Dolphins, which would have seen him join former SG Ball colleague Isaiya Katoa, the Under-19s NSW representative and St Marys juvenile elected to stay at the club. The newly formed club believed they had got the forward, only for him to alter his mind at the eleventh hour.

Because of Hassett’s ascension to the Top 30 roster, the Penrith Panthers now only have two vacant spots. While there have been no reports about who will be handed the berths, it is expected that they will be offered to youngsters who have progressed through the club’s pathways teams.

Despite losing five players, the squad will be basically the same for next season: Jack Cogger, Stephen Crichton, Tom Jenkins, Spencer Leniu, and Jaeman Salmon.

In their place, Paul Alamoti has been acquired from the Bulldogs, Daine Laurie has returned to the club after a period with the Wests Tigers, and Brad Schneider has been appointed as a back-up half after a stint in the Super League.

Next season, Isaiah Iongi, Luke Sommerton, Preston Riki, and Riley Price – the son of former NRL icon Steve Price – will be on supplemental contracts.
