The Denver Broncos defeated the Houston Texans 16-9 on Sunday, but they did not escape their 2022 home opening unscathed.

In his post-game news conference, Broncos head coach Justin Simmons announced that wide receiver Jerry Jeudy had rib injuries and cornerback Patrick Surtain II suffered a shoulder injury against the Texans. Both players are still being tested.

“We’ll find out more tomorrow,” Hackett added.

Jeudy fell down in the first quarter of Denver’s Week 2 triumph after missing six games due to a high-ankle sprain. He was initially doubtful about returning before being ruled out due to a reported shoulder injury.

Tyrie Cleveland (two receptions, 28 yards), Montrell Washington (0/0), and Kendall Hinton (1/20) all contributed to filling the vacuum left by Jeudy, who had one catch for 11 yards before leaving. It was another setback for a WR corps that already without starters Tim Patrick (torn ACL) and KJ Hamler (inactive).
