Charlestown, Virginia On Saturday, Virginia football will play Virginia Tech, and the Cavaliers are now awaiting news on whether one of their starting lineman will be available for the rivalry match.

McKale Boley, a left tackle, left the game in the fourth quarter of this past weekend’s victory over Duke due to an unidentified injury. Tony Elliott, the head coach of Virginia, stated on Tuesday that he was still “day-to-day” as the Hoos prepare for their upcoming match this coming weekend.

“We’re very encouraged with the progress that he’s making,” Elliott added. He is someone who has endured a great deal of suffering. He continues to show up every day despite having the hand and ankle issues that he has been dealing with.”

This season, Boley and Noah Josey have been UVA’s most reliable linemen. The Cavaliers have had to switch and modify their centre and right side of the line, but their left side has largely remained intact.

Boley joined the ‘Hoos as a true freshman last season and has since become more at ease in his position.

Elliott remarked, “As far as I’ve been around, he’s as good,” The way he can bend, roll his hips, and move people—even though he hasn’t fully grown into his size—makes him a guy who would benefit from what we call a “power hour.” However, because he played as a freshman and then this year, he hasn’t had the opportunity to go through that process, so it will be a “build your body as you go” situation. I therefore believe that he has a very high ceiling.”

Virginia quarterback Tony Muskett’s status also remains unclear heading into the rivalry game, after he sprained his ankle against Georgia Tech.

“He’s progressed to running, so we’re hopeful,” said Elliott about Muskett. “It’ll be end of the week-type of deal. He has progressed to be able to get out of the boot and run around and try to work his way back into practice.”

Virginia freshman quarterback Anthony Colandrea has taken over the reigns as the leader of the offense since Muskett’s injury. He has played two solid games for the Wahoos leading the Cavaliers to a victory against Duke this past weekend. Colandrea threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns with Colandrea not throwing an interception and Virginia’s offense not turning over the ball.

Other notable recent injury this week is cornerback Coen King, who is also expected to be out with a dislocated elbow.
