The Baltimore Orioles have received the worst news ever

Black Friday protests by Orioles employees are held outside the team store.
Baltimore — The Baltimore Banner, a media partner of WJZ, reports that about 70 Orioles merchandising employees and their supporters picketed outside the Orioles Team Store on Friday.

According to the Baltimore Banner, they carried posters and made demands of Fanatics, the Orioles’ merchandising company, to reinstate work hours and health insurance for some employees.

Members of the hospitality workers’ union UNITE HERE Local 7 pointed out that retail and concession workers at Camden Yards had long been covered by the union in a statement issued prior to the protest.

However, according to union members, at the start of the previous season, the Orioles divided the concessions contract, which gave Fanatics the opportunity to take over the team store’s operations.

Levy Restaurants was selected to oversee the baseball stadium’s food and beverage operations in the interim.

Union members noted that Fanatics has allegedly refused to agree to the fundamental terms of a union contract, despite Levy Restaurants’ swift action to take up the previous operator’s union contract.

Union members claim that as a result, several of the merchandise employees lost hours and their health insurance.
