Bill Little, the legendary longhorn, dies at age 81
Following Bill Little’s death, former Texas Longhorns coach Mack Brown remarked, “We lost a great man with a huge heart.”

Texas’s Austin According to a release, prominent Texas Longhorns Athletics figure Bill Little passed away in Austin on Friday. 81 years old.

Little was a prominent figure in Texas athletics for more than 50 years and was a member of the Longhorn Hall of Honour Class of 1993. During his tenure at Forty Acres, he held multiple positions, including Deputy Sports Information Director under the renowned Jones Ramsey, SID, and Special Deputy to the Athletics Director. Following that, he served as External Communications Assistant AD before taking over as head of communications for former Texas coach Mack Brown.

In the press release, Brown stated, “We lost a great man with a huge heart.” “Bill cherished Texas, gave the coaches and staff his whole attention, and enjoyed working with the players so much. He was a wonderful man who is adored by many, a Longhorn legend, and an icon in his industry.

Little covered 37 bowl games, worked three national championship football teams as a publicist (1969, 1970, 2005), and covered a staggering 1,700 baseball games in Omaha, as well as 25 different College World Series.

“He did it with charm, grace, and a heartwarming grin,” Brown stated. Nobody compares to him. He was such a blessing in Sally and my life, and we will really miss him. However, Bill Little’s legacy, his countless amazing tales, and his influence on countless people will endure.
