An important commit from Oklahoma won’t be leaving.
The college football coaching carousel has begun to turn, which recently affected the Oklahoma Sooners football program.

Offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby has accepted the position of Mississippi State Bulldogs head coach.

So, how would that impact the Sooners’ top-10 recruiting class?

For Hightower (Texas) four-star wide receiver and Oklahoma pledge Zion Kearney, Lebby’s departure doesn’t change his status.

“It would’ve been cool to play a season under him,” he said. “I’m happy for him and I know it’s a part of the game. I trust (Brent Venables) is going to get somebody in that’s going to lead us into the SEC competitive and ready to win.”

So, will he be re-opening his recruitment?

“I can’t quit before I get started,” Kearney said. “That’s crazy.”

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound pass-catcher is a four-star recruit, rated the nation’s No. 73 overall prospect and No. 15 wide receiver, making him a top-three pledge in Oklahoma’s class.
