Sad News: Tigers star suffering a career ending injury

Missouri’s Caleb Grill Out 5-7 Weeks Due to Wrist Injury

The Missouri Tigers men’s basketball team will be without graduate guard Caleb Grill indefinitely.

The Missouri Tigers men’s basketball team received some unfortunate news just before its highly anticipated matchup against No. 2 Kansas, as guard Caleb Grill will miss 5-7 weeks with a wrist injury, starting with this evening’s game.

“Unfortunately, Caleb suffered an injury to his wrist on his non-shooting hand Sunday after a hard fall,” Whitten Family Men’s Basketball Head Coach Dennis Gates said. “I’m happy to report that he had a successful surgery earlier this week and is on track for a five-to-seven-week recovery with a chance of returning sooner. As a key piece of our team this season, Caleb will certainly be missed but we look forward to him making a full recovery and contributing to our success during the second half of the season.”

The Iowa State transfer has been a vital component of Missouri’s 7-2 record, which includes a current four-game winning streak, starting in five of the team’s nine games this season. Grill is fourth on the team with 8.4 points, second with 5.8 rebounds, and third with 1.1 steals per game while averaging 22.2 minutes per game.

This season, Grill has scored double digits in four games, including two when he scored a career-high 15 points. Nevertheless, he had a strong performance against Wichita State in his last game before the injury, going for 13 points on 50% shooting from the field and beyond the arc, 10 rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
