Breaking: Joe Burrow Signs Huge Contract Extension With Cincinnati Bengals
The 26-year-old becomes the NFL’s highest-paid quarterback.

Joe Burrow is the highest-paid NFL player.

Following months of speculation, the Bengals agreed to sign him to a five-year, $275 million contract extension, keeping him in Cincinnati for the next seven seasons.

Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the deal. The contract includes a $219.01 million guarantee.

Burrow becomes the fourth prominent quarterback to sign a long-term contract this offseason.

Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert were the others.

Burrow’s contract outperforms the rest of the NFL, resetting the quarterback market. It should also give Cincinnati some leeway in their pursuit of long-term contracts with Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase, and other key members of the team.

The Bengals selected Burrow with the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Since then, he has completely transformed the organization, leading Cincinnati to consecutive appearances in the AFC Championship Game.

“Joe Burrow is the heart of our football team,” Bengals President Mike Brown said on July 24.

Most Bengals fans remember where they were when Burrow was drafted. They now know that the star quarterback will remain in Cincinnati for a long time.

The Bengals kick off the 2023 regular season on Sunday in Cleveland.
