Sad Departure: Nuggets have lost two more key players to free agency

Nuggets Lose Two More Players to Free Agency
The Denver Nuggets have already lost a couple players to free agency.

After Bruce Brown’s projected departure, the Denver Nuggets have lost two more players to free agency. On Saturday, it was revealed that Thomas Bryant had agreed to a contract with the Miami Heat and Jeff Green had signed with the Houston Rockets.

While Bryant did not play a significant role in the Nuggets’ championship run last season, Green played in 20 postseason games, averaging more over 17 minutes per game. Green’s offense was unnecessary given Denver’s scoring potential, but his ability to connect certain offensive units while simultaneously employing his quickness on defense was valuable.

Bryant’s contract with the Heat is reportedly for two years and $5.4 million overall. Green’s contract with the Rockets is just for one season, at a total of $6 million. The defending champion Nuggets are still pleased with their current roster and have the ability to make more changes, but they have lost three players in free agency, including Brown, Bryant, and Green.

As previously stated, the departure of Bruce Brown was expected. While Denver wanted him back, they were limited in what they could provide. Bryant and Green’s exits were not the same since the market for both players was unpredictable. Denver has lost some depth, but they should still be in a good position.
