WHAT A SMART MOVE: he reiterates his decision to resign with the Bulls.

DeMar DeRozan reiterates intention to re-sign with the Bulls.

Memphis, Tennessee — DeMar DeRozan like analogies and basketball.

So, while DeRozan soaked up the fact that multiple Eastern Conference teams engineered trades to try to improve their rosters ahead of Thursday’s 2 p.m. deadline, he also cooked up a doozy of a comparison about his potential impending free agency as the Chicago Bulls sat ninth in the Eastern Conference.

“It’s similar to how you interact with your spouse. It is a connection. It’s like, ‘What do we need to do to work on this, baby?’.” DeRozan replied, smiling. “Let’s work this out. You desire me. ‘I want you. The affection is present.”

DeRozan has previously stated a desire to re-sign with the Bulls. However, it is more crucial considering Thursday’s trade deadline. If the Bulls, who have also openly stated a desire to re-sign their senior captain, knew he’d be departing for nothing, it would be prudent for the front office to try to collect whatever compensation for him now.

“Have I ever seemed unhappy? Have I ever expressed a desire to be somewhere else? Any mannerisms or anything? DeRozan said. “So all I can do is manage myself and my current position. Anybody who knows me, whatever job I have, I’m going to give it my all—on the court, off the court, for my teammates, the fans, and whoever appreciates.”
