Good News For Melbourn: The 24-year-old finally returned today

Matildas midfielder Alex Chidiac returns to Melbourne Victory following foreign stay.

Alex Chidiac, a Matildas midfielder, is returning to Melbourne Victory after signing a contract until the conclusion of the 2025-26 A-League Women season.

Chidiac led the Victory to the 2021-22 title and received the Julie Dolan Medal as the A-League Women’s top player last season.

She most recently played in Mexico on loan from Racing Louisville, a NWSL team in the United States.

The 24-year-old was part of the Matildas’ roster for this year’s FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Chidiac joins Victory coach Jeff Hopkins’ team for Saturday’s encounter against Western Sydney Wanderers.

“Victory has become like a second home for me,” Chidiac stated in a Victory statement.

“Working with Jeff and the team brings out the best in me as a footballer and I’m looking forward to helping the team win more silverware over my time here.”

Hopkins stated that adding Chidiac was critical to Victory’s chances of winning a fourth A-League Women championship.

“Alex has shown that she is one of the elite midfielders in this country and she’s an invaluable asset to our side both on and off the park,” he said.

Alex Chidiac claps her hands after the Matildas played England in the FIFA Women's World Cup semifinal.

“Her experience domestically and internationally is vast and over her time at Victory, she has been a leader with her actions.”

The Victory is in fourth position in the 2023-24 standings.
