Good News for Alabama: Another Star Player Sends Message To Fans As He returns to the team……

“I’m back”: Deontae Lawson formally announces his comeback to Alabama.

Alabama will welcome back a major element of its defence, as linebacker Deontae Lawson has confirmed that he will return to the Crimson Tide in 2024 instead of entering the NFL draft.

“I’m back,” Lawson stated in an announcement graphic.

Lawson, a redshirt sophomore, is eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft following his third year of college. Lawson, the Alabama defense’s signal-caller, started 11 games this season and missed three due to injuries. Despite missing three entire games, the Mobile, Alabama native finished second on the team with 67 tackles. Lawson has 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, four pass breakups, and four hurries in 2023.

BamaOnLine reported on Wednesday evening that Lawson was considering returning for another season. The Crimson Tide defence is also slated to welcome back two seniors: defensive back Malachi Moore and defensive lineman Tim Smith. On the other side of the football, BOL has discovered that quarterback Ty Simpson is also expected to return to UA.

The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the 2024 NFL draft is Monday, January 15.
