He Is Back: Longhorns Star player sends a message to fans as he returns to practice today…..

Longhorns’ EDGE Barryn Sorrell Announces Return to Texas.
Barryn Sorrell will return to Austin to play for the Texas Longhorns for another year.

Barryn Sorrell, a Texas defensive lineman, has created several memories throughout his tenure with the Longhorns. He’ll enjoy another year of wonderful moments in Austin.

Sorrell said Sunday on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he plans to return to Texas for the 2024 season. Sorrell will have one year of eligibility left on the Forty Acres.

“I look forward to building more memories here while making this team special again,” Sorrell said in a statement.

Sorrell began his career as a rotational defensive lineman and has seen all three stages of the Longhorns’ metamorphosis under Steve Sarkisian. He was part of the roster that finished 5-7. He contributed to the Horns’ comeback in 2022, when they improved to 8-5.

Sorrell started all 14 games in 2023, totaling 37 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks. He was instrumental in helping the Horns finish with a top-10 run defence and win the Big 12 title for the first time since 2009.

Sorrell recorded three tackles and two pressures in the Longhorns’ 37-31 College Football Playoff semifinal defeat to No. 2 Washington in the Sugar Bowl.

With Sorrell back in the fold, the Longhorns keep both of their starting edge rushers. Ethan Burke, a sophomore and the top sack artist, was always anticipated to return in 2024. Last month, the Longhorns also received UTSA EDGE and AAC Defensive Player of the Year Trey Moore’s pledge through the portal.
