Top Three Free Agents Colts Should Target
It would be prudent for the Indianapolis Colts to make a strong effort for these players during free agency.
With the franchise tag deadline behind us, the NFL world is turning its attention to one of the most intriguing weeks of the offseason: free agency.
The Indianapolis Colts approach free agency with plenty of space to enhance a team that might need some help. While Chris Ballard is unlikely to spend top-dollar on any single player, he will almost probably seek for a few value acquisitions of players who can be impact starters.
I’ve developed a list of a few of folks that I believe would be excellent matches for what the Colts want to achieve. This will be largely focused on defence because I feel the draft provides the most value for enhancing the team’s offence.
3.) EDGE Josh Uche
While most supporters believe that edge is the team’s most pressing necessity, I disagree. The Colts have a number of players under contract, including Samson Ebukam, Dayo Odeyingbo, and Kwity Paye, who you don’t want to take a lot of snaps from. However, this group lacks a special form of edge, which Josh Uche provides.
Uche is a speed rusher who can bend at the peak of his rush and get to the quarterback. Last year, he went through an unusual situation with the New England Patriots, who put him on the trading block before finally keeping him. His productivity slowed as a result, but by 2022, Uche had
Uche would almost entirely be a designated pass rusher, and given his drop in output last season, his price should be reasonable. Uche is expected to sign elsewhere for an annual average value of $7-10 million, which falls squarely in Ballard’s pricing range.
2.) Cornerback Darious Williams
There are a few players I’d like to see the Colts sign in this area. Kendall Fuller, Chidobe Awuzie, and Donte Jackson are just a handful of these people. I wouldn’t mind witnessing a reunion with Rock Ya-Sin.
I chose Darious Williams because of how well he performed last season. At 30 years old (31 by the time the season begins), he is clearly a short-term possibility. However, one might argue that he is now playing the finest football of his career.

He concluded the season with four interceptions (one of which he returned for a score) and an impressive 19 passes defended, which is significant given the Colts secondary’s inability to catch enough footballs.
Williams is a player who can come in and start right away while others, such as Jaylon Jones, grow and Dallis Flowers heal from his season-ending injury.
1) S Quandre Diggs.
This free agency is extremely beneficial to the veteran safety market. While there are many of strong alternatives for the Colts, one name stands out above the rest: Quandre Diggs.
Diggs is a savvy, rangy free safety with outstanding ball tracking skills. Over the previous five seasons, he has shown to be a playmaker in the secondary, snatching 18 interceptions. He is a three-time Pro Bowler and the ideal secondary captain.
Whether Julian Blackmon is brought back or not, Diggs should be a major priority for the Colts because he has the potential to overhaul that back end and offer stability to a position that requires it.
