Chris Jones, the Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman, came to Twitter on Saturday to confirm the $95 million agreement that would keep him with the reigning, back-to-back Super Bowl winners for at least five years.

Jones, 29, was due to join the free-agent market, but Kansas City jumped the gun and offered him $95 million guaranteed over the first three years of his contract extension.

Jones is now one of the highest-paid defensive players in NFL history, and rightfully so, since he is one of the few important Kansas City stars to have been on the team that won the previous three titles.

“KC….five more years of greatness!” 3 times,” Jones tweeted.

Jones made it obvious during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade that he was eager to achieve a three-peat, and he eventually delivered on his promise.

The Kansas City organisation tagged Jones last season after he missed the whole summer programme and Week 1 of the regular season due to a contract disagreement.

Jones reacted by playing every game for the remainder of the season and earning a $1.25 million bonus in his contract with an incredible sack in the season finale.
