Shane Steichen discusses a possible return date for Anthony Richardson

During a press conference at the NFL’s annual meetings, Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen delivered another positive report on Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Richardson’s debut season was cut short in four games due to a season-ending shoulder injury in October. He’s been on the mend lately and appears to be getting close to returning to action.

“I think he’ll be good to go for spring practice,” Steichen said. “Obviously, we have to regulate it, monitor it, and not go overboard, but I can’t wait to get him going again.

“His limited sample size that he had in those first five weeks were impressive,” he said. “Well, he made several plays that

Spring practices are approaching, therefore Richardson must be close to full health if Steichen expects him to be ready. This is clearly great news for Colts fans, who just got a taste of Richardson’s abilities last season.

Richardson has a new backup.
Richardson will have a new backup next season after the Colts signed former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco in free agency. Flacco offers a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team, and he’s eager to help Richardson in any way he can.

“It’s just about being in the room with him and a lot of conversations naturally come up when you spend so much time together in a row,” he remarked. “It’s just kind of I think being able to bring the experience and being able to help him simplify things and go out there and play fast and use his skillset the way he wants to.”

Hopefully, Flacco won’t have to play much, if at all, for the Colts next season, but it’s always a good idea to have a competent backup on hand, especially when your starter is coming off a catastrophic injury like Richardson. When he’s ready to return, he and Flacco can start developing some chemistry.
