The Ferrari Driver Academy has played a pivotal role in nurturing Bearman’s talent, providing him with opportunities to engage in Formula 1 free practice sessions and young drivers’ tests. This foundation has been instrumental in his rapid ascent and his recent commendable performance at the Saudi Arabian GP.

Bearman’s debut was closely scrutinised but he exceeded expectations. His handling of high-pressure situations, such as a critical pit stop under the Safety Car, and his battle with seasoned drivers, were particularly noteworthy. These moments not only highlighted his potential but also his readiness for the challenges of Formula 1 racing.

Bernie Collins, a former F1 strategist and current Sky Sports F1 pundit, praised Bearman’s performance, particularly emphasising his composure and focus throughout the race. “Fantastic drive from him,” Collins stated.

It is currently unclear whether Sainz will have recovered from his surgery to have his appendix removed in time for the upcoming Australian Grand Prix. If the Spanish driver is unable to take part, Bearman will be called on once again to fill his spot.
