Greenard and Cashman left the Houston Texans. Van Ginkel departed the Miami Dolphins.

While Cousins agreed to a new megadeal with the Atlanta Falcons, hastening the club’s transition to the next franchise quarterback, the Vikings focused on addressing a defense depleted of proven players under contract for the new league year after fading down the stretch last season as injuries mounted.

Greenard, 26, recorded a career-high 12 1/2 sacks while appearing in 15 games last season, his most in four years in the NFL. He was limited to just eight games in 2022 due to a calf ailment.

The 2020 third-round draft pick from Florida, where he ended his college career after transferring from Louisville, recorded 23 sacks in 48 games for the Texans. Greenard, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 263 pounds, has also been an efficient run-stopper, recording 52 tackles from his defensive end position, a career high.
