Huge Setback For JackJumpers………

Two major ins, three outs as JackJumpers suffer injuries

Clint Steindl, the JackJumpers’ captain, and marquee centre Will Magnay will play against the New Zealand Breakers on Friday in Round 7.

Magnay has passed testing to be deemed fit for the game at Launceston Silverdome, following the announcement of Steindl’s return.

Despite the pairs’ long-awaited returns to the court, the JackJumpers will be short-handed due to injuries suffered by many players this week.

Milton Doyle, Matt Kenyon, and Jarrad Weeks will not play on Friday due to leg problems.

Doyle has experienced a small heel injury, which is being treated as a precaution. Doyle’s return to full practice is scheduled next week, and early signals are promising.

“We gave Milton every chance to play for the Breakers after a minor tweak, but we believe it is safer to hold him back for this game and give him the extra week to get 100% right,” JackJumpers Head Sports Physio Ryan Carroll said.

Guard Jarrad Weeks will also miss Friday night’s game due to an ankle ailment.

Matt Kenyon is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after hurting his calf during practice.

The medical team at JackJumpers will take a conservative approach to their recovery and ensure a comprehensive rehabilitation procedure.

“It’s awful for those athletes, but this happens at all levels of competition. We knew there would be obstacles, but we have some of the best medical specialists on staff, so they’ll be in good hands,” said Associate Head Coach Jacob Chance.

“It will be a good test of the group’s depth, but we are sure that any person can step up at any time.

“We’ll just take it game by game, week by week,” Chance explained.
