Cavs’ Owner on Donovan Mitchell’s Contract: ‘We Think He Will Extend’
In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Cleveland Owner Dan Gilbert stated that the franchise believes Mitchell will stay with the team for the long term.

Ever since the Nowfell in the first round of the NBA Playoffs last year, a hot topic of discussion has been whether or not Donovan Mitchell will remain with the team long-term.

Before he was traded to the Cavaliers in 2022, Mitchell signed a five-year contract extension in 2020 as a member of the Utah Jazz.

According to Spotrac, the five-time reigning NBA All-Star is under contract with the Wine and Gold for next season, and has a player option ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

In a recent article, Larry Lage of the Associated Press writes about Cavaliers Owner Dan Gilbert’s thoughts on Mitchell’s contract. Gilbert ultimately believes that Mitchell will make a long-term commitment to the team.

“We’ve been talking to him, sure, for the last couple of years about extending this contract,” Gilbert said. “We think he will extend. I think if you listen to him talk, he loves the city.”

He also described Mitchell’s fondness of the team that Cleveland has assembled recently.
