He Is Back……..

Alfred Collins reveals the decision behind his return to the Texas Longhorns.
Alfred Collins had the opportunity to enter the NFL Draft this offseason, but he elected to return for his senior year.

Alfred Collins, a Texas Longhorns defensive lineman, has long been regarded as one of the team’s top performers.

And, while he didn’t always get the starting reps, when he was on the field, he was usually making defensive plays.

As a result, it came as no surprise that Collins would be in high demand in the NFL. After all, he boasts outstanding characteristics for an interior lineman and has a very high ceiling for potential.

To the surprise of many, Collins chose to return to the 40 Acres for his final season with the program. On Thursday, he explained why he made that decision and how important it was to him.

“It’s Texas, man,” Collins explained. “The best school in the country.” I stayed to finish my degree. My mother graduated from here. She continually tells me to finish what I started. I didn’t want to go and then come back. I’ll be done with school once I finish it.”

Collins not only has the potential to finish his studies, but also to boost his draft stock.

Fortunately, he was able to sit and learn from two of the best players to ever wear a Texas uniform: T’Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy II.

“The people that were above me, I really looked up to them and the way they went about things, the way they worked,” Collins went on to say. “Now it is my turn. “I’m thrilled.”

It will be his chance in 2024 to demonstrate his abilities, and by all accounts, he is doing so, with even head coach Steve Sarkisian highlighting his improvements in consistency of play.

And if he can keep it up, Collins should have a very productive final season with the Longhorns – a chance and experience he does not want to miss.

“I’m just more in tune with football and being present,” he remarked. “Trying to make the most of it.”
