NFL Insider Slams ‘Entitled’ Kenny Pickett for Leaving Steelers.
The former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback continues to face criticism for his trade request.

Pittsburgh — Kenny Pickett, a former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, isn’t the most acclaimed athlete in the NFL right now. Since his trade to the Philadelphia Eagles, he has received more criticism than compliments, and one NFL source is not holding back his thoughts on the former first-round choice.

Pickett’s departure from the Steelers followed rumors that he handled Russell Wilson’s arrival “poorly,” prompting him to request a trade. Pittsburgh listened, moving on from the former starter after only two seasons, sending him to Philadelphia with a fourth-round pick in 2025 in exchange for a third-round and two sixth-round picks.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk joined Chris Simms to discuss the deal and share his opinions on Pickett’s attitude toward the issue.

“He had a sense of entitlement,” Florio stated. “So, what has he done in 24 regular-season starts? What has he done to be entitled to anything? What is his draft status? Is it? He must not know anything about the NFL, because your draft status means nothing. What matters is what you do when you have the chance to play.

“And, as we’ve been saying for months, and I feel horrible saying it, this is part of what we must accomplish. Guys play well; guys do not play well. Nothing he’s done has caused people to think, ‘Wow, this man could be extraordinary!’ He hasn’t done anything to make anyone think, ‘Oh man, if he does it a couple more times per game, he’ll be a Pro Bowler, an All-Star, and part of a Super Bowl squad.’ They’ve been competitive despite him, rather than because of him, and they’ve given him a fair shot.”

Pickett concluded his career in Pittsburgh at 14-10 with 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. The team promptly replaced him by dealing for Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears. Meanwhile, Pickett becomes Jalen Hurts’ backup and continues to draw criticism from analysts.
