Tino Livramento, Kieran Trippier, and Joelinton: Newcastle United’s injury list and comeback dates
Injury updates for Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier, Joelinton, Nick Pope, and Tino Livramento ahead of their match against Sheffield United.

Newcastle United enters Saturday’s Premier League match against Sheffield United at St James’ Park with no expected injury boosts.

Callum Wilson returns after two months out with a pectoral injury, while Tino Livramento is a slight doubt after struggling with his ankle once more.

“[Livramento] came on against Tottenham and had a slight reaction in his ankle,” explained head coach Eddie Howe. “It was enough to limit his training at Crystal Palace.

“We have to look after him for a few days, but it makes a huge difference. We’ll see how he feels after training today and then make a judgement.”

Kieran Trippier, Joelinton, Nick Pope, and Miguel Almiron are not anticipated to return this weekend, but will be back before the conclusion of the season.

“They’re getting closer but they’re not close enough for this match,” he said. “They’re all in different positions, making it difficult to categorise them as one.

“Nick is beginning his early training sessions with us. He’s started practicing shooting drills with outfield guys.

“Joelinton has seen a specialist and is developing his own programme. Miggy is there or near and could return next week.”

Meanwhile, Matt Targett is unlikely to play again this season, adding the growing list of players sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Tino Livramento is still recovering from an ankle injury sustained at Chelsea last month. While theoretically fit to play, Newcastle is exercising cautious to avoid a long-term problem. Estimated return: Sheffield United (Home) – 27/04
